Le Musée Alpin (The Alpine Museum)

The Alpine Museum retraces the development of Chamonix since the first tourists came to admire the "Savoie glaciers", up to the installation of the cable cars and the golden age of winter sports. Collection of engravings, photos, drawings, crystal, old artefacts, costumes: in other words, everything that represents the memory of the valley.

The Tairraz Exhibition Centre

This superb exhibition area which opened in 2001 has already hosted several major exhibitions: "Roger Frison-Roche", "Crossing the Alps", "A hundred years of photos through the Gay-Coutte family", “Glaciers and men". This area also features a crystal museum enabling visitors to discover magnificent minerals from the local area as well as farther afield.

Heritage visits

The Chamonix Tourist Office organises a guided visit of the town’s historical heritage every week. This enables visitors to discover the key monuments of Chamonix such as the statue of Jacques Balmat, the Cour Bridge, the station, priory and other key features located in the heart of the city.
